baby got new shoes

I’ve posted about my drop-bar folding bike commuter before, but there are a few fun additions.

1) I’ve replaced the 451 wheels, as it was hard to find tires to match and no studded tires were available. So I had Harris Cyclery build me a wheelset using Sun Rhyno Lite rims (used for BMX stunts, hopefully impervious to Boston potholes!) and a sturmey-Archer drum brake up front for stopping power in the rain.

2) As much as I hate the name, some Big Apple tires for absorbing minor road bumps.

3) to absorb the BIG bumps, a Thudbuster seatpost

4) a Specialized Romin seatpost, with a fitting from Landry’s Norwood

The other cool thing is that everything on the bike is silver or black except for the name “swift” (yellow). I even took a Sharpie to the koolstop salmon brake pads so they would match 🙂
