rained out
was all excited to do a 75-mile winding loop from Wayland to downtown Boston. first half went great, then the rain started to fall. options were to wait out the rain or take the train home to Westwood.
unfortunately I had forgotten my rain jacket at home. the rain seemed to come and go, but I didn’t want to get caught in a total downpour as the forecast had predicted thundershowers all afternoon and evening.
so we took the train home. of course it was clear skies when we got there. left me pretty upset, b/c I can’t bike commute this week due to camp schedules & so it would’ve been a perfect week to recover from a longer ride…the 40 miles we did do didn’t have much of an effect. maybe I”ll get on the trainer this afternoon while watching TdF reruns…

Hi mtalinm,
My weekend ride was also re-oriented by the weather forecast predicting thunderstorms. I had planned for about 40 miles on my good (non-weather beater) road bike, from Kenmore via Natick and Dover to Norwood. I started late (~6:45 AM) due to weather uncertainty. Just as I got to Wellesley it got cloudy and I anticipated rain, so I headed via Needham to Norwood, with only 20 miles.
It was sunny again in Norwood, so I continued on to Walpole – Edgehill Street (great cycling road) through Canton and Sharon, to Moose Hill and back to Sharon center via Main Street, and Rte 27 to Norwood, for about 42 miles total. I saw a great paceline of about 10 riders in full matching kits ascending a steep hill on Rte 27 at the Sharon MBTA station.
Not a drop of rain, though it was lightly raining at 3:00 PM, so I took the MBTA back to Boston. I was totally amazed by the flooding on Storrow Drive and in Somerville, especially since we were going to Malden that night via those roads, so I had to find an alternative (I-93).
Sincerely,
Jim
